"L'Atelier Musicien" is a grouping of three composers of the same generation who, over and beyond their individual musical aesthetics, share the same desires to explore musical matter, mainly as regards tone-colour. Claude Ledoux, who is fascinated by oriental music, tries to direct the listener's perception towards paths unknown to western ears, notably by renewing the melodic phenomenon. Denis Bosse is also concerned with exploration of the listening process through varied use of one and the same material (in the direction of Luigi Nono or Helmut Lachenmann). Michel Fourgon, rejecting systems and ghettos, composes music that is as susceptible to abruptness as to shimmering sounds. "L'Atelier Musicien" is also a meeting-place for exchanges and in-depth work with performers, in this case a trio comprising violin, trombone and piano, the unusual configuration giving immediate proof of originality and a diversity of tone-colour, much of which still needs to be explored. This is an indispensable journey towards new horizons and new sounds, brought to the fore by superb sounds production in an exceptional acoustic.
